But first, bias tape.

Lots and lots of bias tape.

Sandpaper for distressing seams before topstitching.

Topstitching. Also lacing loops in back. Because everything is better with lacing.

Bound seams.

Sneaky pocket topstitching.

It’s coming together! Also, full circle skirt. Also, I got 4 metres of that lace, and it’s all laid out there.

Tomorrow, I put in sleeves! And maybe buy more lace. And more fabric for bias tape. I’m going to run out.

  3. Wow, that is a lot of work! It is looking great.

  4. It’s looking terrific! Wow – sand paper distressing is hard core… And have you chalked the fabric before cutting the bias tape or are you just able to do it by sight???

    • I have in the past marked it before cutting, and I also have one of those magnetic guides that sticks to your scissors, but I find that for most of my purposes, anyway, eyeballing is fine. The edges are generally turned under or trimmed off and don’t show. YMMV. πŸ˜‰

  5. What a gorgeous pattern! Can’t wait to see the finished article.

  6. This is going to be a freakin’ awesome coat!! Can’t wait to see it finished!!

  7. What a great pattern! I am sure it will be wonderful!

  8. Wow, such a lot of work and attention to detail. Sandpapering seams – never heard of that one! It’s going to be fantastic.

  12. I love the idea of sanding the seams before topstitching! I might try that on my jeans (whenever I get back to them). Smart woman, you are.

Also, I don’t think I realized you were making a jacket! I thought you were making pants! lol Cannot wait to see the finished garment.

  13. Anon against satan

ARE YOU SATAN?! yes, this is a beautiful pattern and you made it look beautiful on you, but CAMO?!?!?!! CAMO PRINT IS THE SKIN OF SATAN. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS. SOME PEOPLE WILL GO INTO CARDIAC ARREST WHEN THEY COME IN CONTACT WITH CAMO PRINT. DO YOU WANT TO KILL?!?!? There is only one way to fix this. Repent. Burn the jacket.
