LOL! Sorry for the teaser, everyone… I was laptopless and posting from my iPhone while trying to cram all the obligatory familial visits into a two-day period punctuated with Canada Day and a bridal shower.
My mom works at an antique shop so has been on the lookout for a good vintage machine/deal for me for a while… I’m just happy she caved and gave it to me before September!
She looks really good although there aren’t any attachments, although there is the original cleaning kit. The foot-pedal appears to have been rewired fairly recently, and there’s a fairly-recent receipt in the box from its last service. I haven’t had a chance to try her paces out yet… here’s hoping I can figure out how to thread her!
And Jilly, I will definitely be watching out for your refurb tutorial. 🙂

Lucky you! I learned to sew on a machine not much different from that one (it was back in the 80s, when machines made in the 30s and 40s were going for a song, and my mother decided she’d rather have me use an antique than her finicky new machine). I fell in love with sewing after making umpteen Cabbage Patch clothes on my Featherweight.
Haha! I just passed up about six Cabbage Patch & kid matching dress patterns at Value Village on the weekend… I was tempted! I’m pretty sure my Mom still has my CP doll in a trunk somewhere, too…
I got my start on a 60s Pfaff that my mom refuses to relinquish. Not nearly as vintage as this, but there are definitely some similarities…

I know! It’s like starting with the 60s everything had to be pared-down and functional and “modern”. =UGLY!
